Usability

Users spend most of their time on other websites.
This means that they form their expectations for your site based on what’s commonly done on most other sites. If you deviate, your site will be harder to use and users will leave.

Good usability doesn’t mean that a website has to look the same as everyone else. Usability is more about meeting a users expectations, and a lot of the time this is common knowledge.

To test website usability we’ll write a list performance requirements. These list a series of tasks that you would expect/like people to do on your website. Depending on how easy or difficult it is to perform these tasks, will give us and indications of how usable you site is.

Example:

  • Find the companies phone number.
  • What services and products does company X do?
  • What are the opening hours of company X?

Much like the features wishlist, the performance requirements should be used as the basis for your site design.
